Had a great day in lots of little ways. Woke up to rain on the tin roof. Wanted to roll over and go back to sleep but go up anyway, slapped on my rain boots and walked to school. It's always fun to wear rain boots here because everyone wheres them to pick coffee so I get some amusing looks when people pass by. They all think it's funny that Teacher has her own "botas." But hey, when in Rome... Since classes are winding down we made clay today (flour, salt, water) and played our own version of "sculptadores" (Like pictionary with clay). What a blast! Then I visited my friend Veronica on the way home, had coffee and chatted with her and her mom, visited their cow and discussed recipes.
Got back to my house a little while ago and am feeling quite content and at home here. Not just in this physical house but more generally with the people here, in my conversations and my daily life and routines (which more often than not involves farm animals). Which brings up the question of my impending visit "home" after a year away and how exactly that will feel. I think it will feel like a vacation to a foreign country. Like all of you have been away from me for a year and I'm coming to visit you in this strange place where people flush their toilet paper and eat spicy foods and move at the speed of light. So I guess what I'm trying to say, living here has changed me and sometimes it takes a change of scenery or context to really see how much we've changed.
